Blue sky and 25°C! The first real summer day this year! Finally! (And it's the 15th of June... really unbelievable.)
Ken and Kaarna walk to the lakeshore and swim at their own special place.
The wind and the sun dry them up – no towels or swimming suits needed!
They are determined to enjoy this day to the max!
But wait... how well can you enjoy when you share the yard with Filia?
The old lady comes to Ken and Kaarna and says:
- Help me take off my pantyhose. I peed in them. I didn't get to the outhouse soon enough.
Because Kaarna is still feeling guilty of Ken's wrist, she volunteers to help Filia so that Ken doesn't have to.
When Filia obviously is planning to spend the rest of the afternoon with them, Kaarna thinks the perfect day is ruined.
Also the next day is beautiful, even though not as warm as yesterday.
Kaarna decides to avoid the neighbours and ride her bike here and there. She picks a big bouquet of lupines for Ken, because she knows it makes Ken happy.
Ken hates lupines in the nature, because it's an alien species that doesn't belong to Finland.
So, the bigger the bouquet, the better!
The lovely weather lasts only two days and then it feels like autumn again.
The weather forecast promises nothing good, and Ken and Kaarna think they really must do chores now.
If they are forced to spend all the summer months inside, it better happen in a clean home.
All of a sudden Ritva calls and says:
- I have an arm for you! Can you come to the clinic right now?
- Of course I can!!!! But it’s the Midsummer Eve. Don’t you want to take a day off?
- Why? The best thing I can think of is doing the surgeries! I work all weekend. And this operation is super easy, now that we don’t have to remove your head or anything. You won’t even have to spend the night in the hospital.
Ken rushes to Ritva's clinic and Kaarna continues alone with the chores. But when she’s just about to start doing the dishes, she hears someone storming in! And hollering:
- Hallo Ken!!!!!!
It’s the Germans!!!! Who invited them?!
Clothilde and Günter hide behind the kitchen counter when the happy Ken arrives with his his brand new arm.
They jump up and scream:
- Überraschung, Überraschung!!!!
What a wonderful surprise indeed!
The Germans look different than before. Clothilde has also been in a body transplant surgery back in their home country and she shows her new flexible body to Ken. She’s especially proud of her beautiful legs.
- Do you remember what they used to look like?
Kaarna answers:
- Who could ever forget those Chinese chopsticks!?
What about Günter then?
Clothilde says:
- He has built this belly all by his own with a little help from the delicious German beer, no surgery needed.
And Günter adds:
- Jetzt habe ich mehr erotische Nutzfläche.
- Isn’t he adorable!
The next day is sunny and Ken wants to invite Hector and Janne to meet the Germans.
Kaarna is feeling uncomfortable, because she fears that everyone might not get along well.
Will Hector and Janne understand the dirty German humor?
But of course Kaarna's thoughts go wrong.
Ken looks at all his best friends blabbering together and he almost feels like crying of happiness.
Naturally Hector and Janne are enjoying the company of the Germans. If they all love Ken, they obviously like each other too.
Ken has baked a cake in the morning and he is amazed how well he can carry it even if it’s very heavy. The new hand and the old glued hand work perfectly together.
The day goes by and everybody’s having fun. Even Kaarna! She rejoices:
- And we don’t even have mosquitoes today!
- Was sagst du? Es gibt Millionen von Mücken hier! says Günter.
Well, apparently the mosquitoes prefer the German blood to the Finnish…
In the evening they all go to sauna except for Clothilde. Poor Günter is covered in mosquito bites, but maybe the sauna easies up the pain and itching.
The home sauna is not as hot as the smoke sauna that Günter had to suffer from during his last visit to Finland. But it is just as crowded!
The next days are rainy and cold and everybody feels down. Since Clothilde likes to learn how to bake the Finnish speciality, korvapuusti, Ken is glad to teach her.
Ken and Kaarna had never even thought that this everyday bun might be something that doesn't exist in Germany.
Clothilde is used to baking bread and cakes, so she makes delicious korvapuusti.
- Lecker, lecker!
Maybe she will dazzle all her friends back home with these buns and start a new trend in Germany!
Günter likes to know if there's a pub in the village and when he hears about Mocambo, he says:
- Also los zur Kneipe!
Ken and Kaarna look at each other and Ken says:
- Don't look at me. You are the one who will take them to Mocambo!
So, as Günter wished for, in the next day the trio walks to Mocambo.
Günter is a gentleman like always, and asks what the ladies would like to drink. Kaarna wants a hot mint chocolate drink and Clothilde takes Baileys.
The bar is half empty and of course these new people draw the regular drunk's attention.
Kaarna notices that he keeps staring at them and it makes her feel nervous.
When they raise their glasses they shout "Pippeli" all together, just like Ken has thought the Germans when they first met in Spain. Actually "pippeli" is a cute word for penis, and the Finnish people really say "kippis".
But Günter and Clothilde still like the pippeli better than kippis.
But every time Günter speaks something and Clothilde starts to translate it to Kaarna, the asshole drunk behind them raises his hand and shouts some far right slogans. Kaarna is so ashamed of her fellow countryman. Some Finnish people really are assholes.
Clothilde doesn't let anyone make fun of her husband or demonstrate the forbidden signs and slogans. She quickly has enough of the idiot and goes to ask him:
- Do you really want to get your ass kicked? You Arschloch!
But the asshole just keeps on doing the same shit and Taylor rushes to help Clothilde to kick the imbecile out.
Taylor is very sorry about the incident and says that during this evening everything is on the house for them.
Naturally she wants to show them the boudoir back room.
It's free for them to use tonight if they want. And they sure want!
When the Germans don't come back from the boudoir, Kaarna can rest a little. It's tiring to speak a foreign language all the time.
But Muija stumbles to Kaarna's table and starts to explain her new theory:
- Usually if I drink the green drink I can speak English. And when I drink the blue drink I can speak Swedish. So if I drink them both, I think I will be able to speak German!
Meanwhile Günter is speaking the love language with Clothilde!
- Oh mein Schatz... Schatzimausi... Herzblatt... Schnuckiputzimausi... Pupsibärchen!!!
Suddenly Muija rushes in and shouts:
- Achtung! Jetzt kann ich Deutsch sprechen!
But she trips and falls down on the bed. And vomits on the silk sheets.
- Wow! Look at that! Now I'm speaking Norwegian too!
Mocambo really has shown its best sides to Clothilde and Günter.
Hector and Janne are getting ready to drive to Helsinki Pride. The pets will have to stay with Ken and Kaarna.
Despite of the fact that the weather is colder than in normal Septembers even, they choose to ride Janne's motorbike instead of driving Hector's Jeep. And they even even do it half-naked...
Insane... Ken and Kaarna suffer from freezing fingers already.
- Safe ride to the capital city! Hold the flag up high!
Kaarna puts a Pride flag on their own porch, because she has just realized that the priest who lives on their street is somewhat racist and homophobic.
- I want this flag to be here forever, not only during the Pride Week. I want everybody in the village to know that our house is a safe place for LGBT etc people.
Ken agrees:
- Good idea! But listen, I'll take the dog and the Germans to the woods. Maybe the rains have brought some mushroom up. Do you want to come with us?
Kaarna rather stays inside, but the others are lucky in the forest. They find a huge amount of chantarelles!
They can even pick them up in peace, because the day is way too cold for mosquitoes.
- Too cold for anything but mushroom... I fear that there will be no blueberries this summer, Ken mumbles.
To be continued...
