The first green leaves are on the trees, but the weather is still very cold.
Ken and Kaarna can´t even think about starting their summer road trip when the night temperatures are close to 0°C.
Besides Kaarna has fever.
Maybe living outside for one weekend wasn´t such a good idea after all, as this May happens to be super cold.
The nature flourishes despite of the coldness. Ken picks some rhubarb to make a pie.
It´s horrible that May is almost over already.
Finally a warm day! Everybody spends the day outside.
Ken and Kaarna carry the table and chairs from the garage and watch how Elisabet does her magic in the garden.
She places flower pots on everybody´s porch...
... and promises to water the plants.
It feels so nice to do nothing and look carefully all the beauty around them.
This is a precious moment, because tomorrow it’ll be pouring rain again and the cold days will be back.
The extremely rainy May has been good for the nature. Ken finds flowers that usually are in bloom a month later.
But when will the dry season start? When can the annual road trip begin?
- Let’s see the new weather forecast for June. Oh no… rain rain rain… more rain… it says that the nights will be chilly and bright, and the days rainy.
- All June?! Life in a a van will be pure torture.
- I agree… we’ll be happier at home. Look at the rest of Europe…. Hot as hell in Spain.
- We should drive to Poland or Germany.
- Oh Kaarna dear... We can’t afford such a long trip. Let’s try to enjoy our home, ok?
Because the house feels damp, Kaarna wants to put a fire in the fireplace. But a wagtail has made a nest on top of the firewood pile.
So Kaarna comes back inside emptyhanded. She doesn´t want to disturb the birdy.
Ken tries to get as much as possible done at home now.
He cleans up the garage during the rain showers.
And in sunny moments it’s time to mov the lawn that now grows super fast.
Ken also sews new covers for the garden furniture.
Maybe some day it’ll be warm enough for sunbathing without a cardigan.
Meanwhile Kaarna is bored and extremely pissed off with the weather and her own loose joints. So, when she sees a YouTube video of how to stiffen knees and elbows, she orders a special glue and boldly starts to operate on herself.
When Ken sees what she’s doing, he’s horrified!
- You really should leave those things to the professionals!!!!
- I can’t afford a professional.
But the glue treatment works like magic! When Kaarna shows that she can lift heavy objects, Ken changes his mind.
- Do me now!!!!
Kaarna tells Ken that after she has put the glue into Ken’s joint, he has to keep moving his ankle back and forth rapidly until the glue has dried up.
- This is amazing! Poor Ritva though. If everybody starts to do their own body repairs, she’ll have no customers.
But then something horrible happens! Kaarna accidentally puts too much glue on Ken´s wrist and no matter how fast Ken keeps twisting and turning his hand, the wrist stays stuck in one position!
Kaarna tries to force it to move, but the hand comes off completely!
Ken is about to faint, he can´t even scream. How can this be happening? Kaarna starts to cry and Ken tries to keep on breathing. What a nightmare.
Meanwhile a certain professional is performing a full body transplant surgery on herself. Nobody has done this before and therefore the operation is streamed all over the world for all the plastic surgeons to watch.
Ritva´s assisting nurse takes care of the final measures and her recovery will start.
After a couple of days Ritva is already fully capable to work.
Ken is extremely embarrassed, but he has no choice but to ask for her help.
Ritva arrives driving her brand new custom made moped car.
- So, she must be at least 15 years old now if she´s allowed to drive that thing, Kaarna thinks.
Ritva opens the back of her vehicle and a complete doctor´s office is revealed. Pretty impressive!
She shakes her head when she hears what Ken and Kaarna have done:
- You must never try to fix your body by yourself. And stop watching YouTube videos.
Being a 40 or a 50-year-old adult and getting scolded by a child is not nice, even for a good reason.
But Kaarna shouts the truth for defending their actions:
- We can´t afford your services!
Ritva climbs on Ken´s lap and gives him a hug and says:
- You were always there for me, when I was little and my parents had no clue about being responsible adults. I would never take money from you, if you're experiencing any health problems.
Then she explains:
- There's not much I can do with this now. I will put your hand back in its place, but your wrist will be stiff forever. Don't worry though... I will naturally order you a new body. But since your skin tone is rare, it might take a while until a suitable donor can be found.
Then Ritva examines all the joints that Kaarna has glued and says:
- You've actually done a pretty good job. That YouTube video you watched must not be that bad at all. But listen... I always fix these problems for free for the poor people. Next time call me first.
Then she gives Ken and Kaarna stickers for being such good patients, and that makes them all laugh. She closes the back of the moped car and drives away, because there are another patients to take care of.
Kaarna is relieved. Even though Ken has to suffer for some time now, eventually everything will end happily.
- And the weather forecast says we'll have an almost summery weekend! Yay! Right?
